Live In Home Care Provides Compassionate Comfort In Philadelphia Home

Subhead: Our Live In Care: A Model Delivering Consistency, Day and Night

Do you know the greatest challenge in live-in home care? Consistency without burnout.

We solved that challenge. We provide you with a dedicated primary caregiver, a trusted companion who lives and builds a real relationship with you while providing day-to-day support.

While that caregiver sleeps at night or takes time off, we also supply professional, vetted relief staff. In Philadelphia, we don’t just offer live-in care; we offer a sustainable, high-quality-c option, ensuring the client and caregiver are at their best.

Our Live-In Services

As a part of our home care services, our 24-hour, live-in care model provides continuous, loyal support.

You’ll always have a loyal, live-in caregiver who offers companionship and takes care of your needs.

Service Model

This 24-hour, live-in model provides you with a dedicated caregiver to assist you primarily during the day. The caregiver will move into your home with you and provide the support you need, especially during the day.

To protect the caregiver’s health and to avoid caregiving burnout, our agency mandates that the primary caregiver must receive eight hours of uninterrupted sleep, typically at night and is entitled to days off each week.

While your primary caregiver sleeps, we can send relief caregivers (if needed) to fill in for your primary caregiver, so there aren’t any gaps in your quality care.

Staffing and Shifts

Having a consistent, primary caregiver fosters a relationship built on trust between you and the caregiver.

Clients, who need caregivers for multiple days, can have a primary caregiver stay for multiple consecutive days with a relief caregiver (if necessary) to cover the primary caregiver’s mandated rest periods and scheduled days off. This commitment to consistent staffing fosters a relationship built on trust between you and your aide.

Overnight Protocol

As a part of the agency policy, a caregiver is entitled to eight hours of uninterrupted sleep in a privateroom with access to a bathroom.

If there’s an emergency during that time, we provide other aides who can be readily available to supply the care required.

Ideal Client Profile

The perfect client for this option is someone who is self-sufficient overnight and may only need a few safety checkers and the presence of an overnight companion – assistance family members can usually complete. These clients rarely have unexpected needs during the night.

Payment Options

We understand the value of this service, and we strive to make these long-term, non-medical critical services available to everyone.

That’s why we accept multiple forms of payment. They may be covered by a variety of payment methods, including the Pennsylvania Caregiver Support Program, the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (a Medicaid state program), veteran benefits, and select private insurance plans.

The Cost

We charge a flat, daily rate for this service. However, the price increases when relief caregivers are sent during the night. If this occurs frequently, our 24-hour-continuous service may be the best option for you due to the cost efficiency of that model.

This live in care is the most cost-effective option for continuous, 24-hour peace of mind, if most of the care is needed during the day.

Who Benefits from Live-In Care Services?

There are many benefits to our live-in care services, including establishing a genuine, consistent connection with a caregiver.

Examples of these groups which benefit from these live-in services include:

Seniors aging in place: Our live-in home care caregivers provide the required services, allowing seniors to remain in their homes, surrounded by their family, familiar belongings, and memories.

Couples with differing needs: This is a great option where one partner needs more assistance than the other or if both partners need help. This service helps the couple stay together while having the companionship of the person they love.

Individuals seeking companionship: For clients living alone, a live-in caregiver prevents depression and loneliness by providing consistent emotional support.

Individuals with chronic illnesses: These are clients who can manage their health conditions well. The need for active intervention is rare, but it’s important to have a swift response.

Clients living in remote situations: Having the presence of a live-in caregiver is an important layer of safety, since a 911 response might be delayed. However, these clients tend to need little attention at night.

Very poor communication by the recruiter, the caregiver and the client. They don’t have insurance details about the aide. But, the aide was driving me around in an unregistered vehicle and trying to put me in trouble by letting my finger get jammed in her car door and they’re not willing to take responsibility. That’s not good. They’re playing with the client’s health by doing whatever they want. Two and a half months. It was nonstop harassment. Lily was very inappropriate to me as well as the aide. Getting on their nerves to get the client’s signature for the aide to get paid? Something needs to be done. I’ll never recommend this agency to anyone who needs help.

Common Questions About Live In Services

Still have more questions? Read on. We’ve answered some of the most commonly asked questions for you.

What happens when the live-in aide takes time off or gets sick?

We have a back-up plan. We immediately dispatch a qualified, trained relief caregiver who is familiar with your or your loved one’s care plan to make sure there’s no gap in coverage.

What happens during the night?

The live-in caregiver is entitled to eight hours of uninterrupted sleep. The patient needs to be able to sleep through the night independently with few needs or have a family member available to assist during the aide’s rest period. In emergency cases, we can have a relief caregiver on hand.

Who pays for the caregiver’s food?

Caregivers are responsible for their food and meals. In some cases, however, some families choose to offer food as a courtesy.

Are caregivers allowed to bring visitors or pets to the client’s home?

Caregivers aren’t allowed to bring personal visitors or pets into a client’s home. The client’s home is a workplace. Inviting unauthorized guests or bringing animals introduces security, liability, privacy, and health risks which violate agency policy.

What are the protocols for handling a client’s refusal of care (e.g., refusing medication or bathing)?

If a client refuses some of our live-in care services (like refusing getting dressed or bathing), the caregiver first respects the client’s autonomy and tries to understand the reason for refusal. The caregiver then documents the refusal and notifies the leading supervisor, especially if the refusal poses a safety risk. The agency will contact you or your family to find a safe, respectful, and appropriate solution.

Are there specific instructions for the caregiver on how to handle sensitive family dynamics or disagreements?

Yes. Caregivers are instructed to remain neutral and professional when observing family dynamics or conflicts. The primary directive is to focus on the client’s care, avoid taking sides, and report any conflicts or changes in the client’s emotional state to the leading supervisor.

What is the difference between home care and home health care services?

We provide home care service, which focuses on assistance for non-medical needs and is usually long-term care. Home health care services send licensed professionals (nurses and therapists) to your home to provide medical services and are usually short-term and temporary.

What About Payment Options?

These long term and non-medical services may be covered by a variety of payment methods, including the Pennsylvania Caregiver Support Program, the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (a Medicaid state program), veteran benefits, and select private insurance plans.
